The North Sussex Branch of NARPO was formed in 1991 and currently has a membership of 231 Full Members, 2 Associate Members, 1 Additional Member from another branch and 11 Widow Members. The branch mainly covers the areas of Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath and as far south as Henfield and Hurstpierpoint. However we have a number of members who live in various parts of the UK and abroad. The majority of our members served in Sussex although one member served in the Metropolitan Police.
The branch publishes a monthly newsletter and we have at least 4 branch/committee meetings a year in addition to the AGM which is held in March of each year. Bereavement notices received from the Force Welfare Department and other urgent information are circulated by the Branch Secretary by email to those members who have that facility. The notices are also included in the monthly newsletters for those who do not have email. The branch is strongly concerned in the welfare of members and our Branch Chairman is the main contact for all Sussex NARPO branches in respect of advising members who are subject of Injury on Duty Pension reviews.
The Branch Officers meet with the Officers from the 5 other Sussex Branches three times a year at Sussex Police Headquarters, Lewes as well as representing the branch at the NARPO Annual Conferences and Regional meetings.
The branch also has an active social side and our Social Secretary, Jill Donaldson arranges a number of social events including a Christmas Dinner throughout the year.
New members will be warmly welcomed to the branch and should contact the Branch Secretary for further details.
