The Civil Partnerships Act 2004 means that same-sex partners will be able to go through a legal ceremony akin to a marriage with effect from 21st December, registering their partnership. In recognition of this, Officers who are insured under the Federation Group Life/Accident etc scheme can now apply for cover for registered partners under the Spouse Group Life Scheme, if they have registered the partnership within the terms of the Act. Any Officer who wishes to apply, please contact the Federation office for an application form.
Officers who have partners but who do not undertake a marriage
or civil registration will be able to apply, please contact the
Federation office for an application form.
Officers who have partners but who do not undertake a marriage
or civil registration will be able to apply for cover under the
spouse scheme in the near future, when the new pension regulations
are issued and the definition of 'partner' is clear.
