As supporters of the Police Rehabilitation Centre at Flint House, Goring, Oxfordshire, we are concerned that of 3,207 officers in Sussex Police only some 2022, i.e. just 57% of officers are actually current contributors to the centre. That means 1185 or 43% do not currently subscribe.
We are taking this opportunity to contact all those officers who do not currently make a net weekly donation of 0.85p under the Give as You Earn scheme to earnestly request your consideration to making such a contribution.
In order to stay at Flint House at no charge it is necessary to be a weekly contributor and as part of this promotion we are assured by the centre that if you sign up now you will be eligible to attend the centre straight away, subject to evaluation of any pre existing condition.
If you do believe you are already contributing, please check your latest payslip under ‘Deductions’ and look for ‘Pol. Convalescent’ as determination that you are.
Flint House offers free of charge, extensive, and first class dedicated facilities for medical recovery and convalescence to serving and retired officers.
If you know any colleague who has spent any time at the centre, we are 100% confident they will re-enforce the quality and standard of Flint House and all it offers in a 12 day stay.
The Centre served nearly 3000 injured officers throughout 2006 and the number is rising annually.
In the last six years specifically, 438 officers from Sussex have benefited from attendance.
Flint House relies nearly entirely on the funds from contributing officers and is solely for the benefit of police officers.
As a current non-contributor we would ask that you give this matter your serious consideration, with a view to donating the very small, weekly sum requested.

"Have you ever wondered what the best investment could be at a time of economic uncertainty? My answer would have to be subscription to the Police Rehabilitation Centre at Flint House. Even one visit there is likely to pay back all your subscriptions and a lot more in the way of treatment and care.
I had never thought of attending Flint House until being injured at work and it was dealing with acute and then chronic pain which made it such a God send. I have since been twice, which enabled me to return to work and remain at work. The initial assessement given by the physiotherapist, with a friendly, 'How are you today,' enables you both to work a schedule of progressive classes and treaments to which you give daily feedback which is adjusted according to how you respond. I know of nothing else that compares to the quality of treament that I obtained ranging from hydrotherapy and spine mobilty classes, to acupuncture , sports massage, manipulation and being able to ask questions and get answers!
Aside from the physical treatment is the stay at Flint House itself which is set within beautifully kept grounds away from any disturbance in the rural countryside of Oxfordshire. So much of the day is given to opening space for walks or reading which takes getting used to at first. However, this is part of the wholistic approach to giving time to heal. The food is outstanding, the rooms are hotel standard and all those that work there are friendly, enjoy their work and fully supportive.
I can heartily recommend Flint House and advise anyone not paying into it to consider whether they can afford not to. It's the best investment I ever made."
