WELCOME to this area of the Sussex Police Federation website, kindly given over to providing information and contact to former police officers, particularly those that served with Sussex Police or its constituent forces prior to amalgamation in 1968.
The National Association of Retired Police Officers is a representative and social organisation charged with looking after the welfare of former officers who are in receipt of a police pension and representing those former officers in matters relating to their pension. A national organisation formed in 1919; there are currently 108 branches throughout England and Wales and a number in other countries throughout the world. Six local branches serve Sussex and further details of these can be found by following the links below. These six branches meet regularly throughout the year from which matters relevant to retired Sussex officers are taken to biennial meetings with the Chief Constable and similarly provide a forum to take matters to both Regional and National Meetings, most particularly the Annual Conference.
Each branch provides a means of contact with all retired officers, especially those over 85 years of age, providing help and support in all matters of welfare and advice on benefits and contact with supportive organisations such as the Police Dependants Trust, the Sussex Police Charitable Trust and the Gurney Fund.
Various types of social functions, outings and meetings are organised by each branch, providing an opportunity to maintain contact with working colleagues. A full range of benefits are accessible both through this website under the Services tab and through the NARPO national website http://www.narpo.org.
To contact any of the branches in Sussex please address correspondence to the Secretary of any particular branch, contact details for which are on the respective page.

The Police Rehabilitation Centre, Flint House, a registered Charity was founded in 1890 by Catherine Gurney for serving and retired police officers.
Retired officers can stay for 1 week. Application forms can be downloaded here or by calling 01273 404211 where a form can be posted to you by the admin team.
The retired officer will need to complete the form, ask their GP to countersign and provide a pay slip or proof that donations to the Charity were made whilst a serving officer. The form should be submitted via the Police Federation Office, Police Headquarters, Lewes where it will be countersigned and forwarded to Flint House. The Flint House admin team will liaise with the retired officer direct.

The Gurney Fund for Police Orphans may help children not only of Police Officers who have died, but of those who have taken early retirement on ill-health grounds within the various subscribing Forces.
The allowances are reviewed each year and all families are paid according to need, although there is a 'basic' weekly allowance which again is reviewed at regular intervals. Grants can be made for various items which families could not otherwise afford, such as educational trips, musical instruments, books and school uniforms.
